The Bachelor of Science in Applied Plant Science (APS) is an innovative program designed to address the need for professionals with knowledge of plants and plant systems and the ability to solve complex problems. Development of the APS major is a response to changes in agriculture and the relationship of agriculture to society.  Minnesota is in a unique position to take leadership in linking plant production, processing and utilization with consumer and industry concerns. The state hosts internationally-recognized agricultural corporations and more than 400 companies in the food-related industries. Ready access to, and interactions with, potential employers is a vital feature of the Applied Plant Science program.

The APS program provides a strong foundation in basic sciences and emphasizes development of communication and leadership skills.  The program offers three tracks or areas of specialization
